Wizz — "Tinder-style" stranger chat app for teens
Wizz is an app that randomly connects teens with strangers for direct messaging, similar to swiping on dating apps. It was removed from Apple and Google Play stores in 2024 after safety agencies raised the alarm. Cybertip.ca reported a sharp rise in harm: the vast majority of reports linked to Wizz involved sextortion (blackmail using intimate or manipulated images). Adults can easily pose as teens because age verification is weak. Many victims were 15–17. If the app is still on a device, parents are advised to remove it and talk with their child about why stranger-chat apps are risky.
